Dishwasher door spring noise

Problem solution:

Disconnect the power and water supply to the dishwasher

Turn the switch to the off position to completely disconnect the power from the dishwasher (some older homes have a fuse that needs to be removed from the fuse box). To make sure the power is off, check the display on the control panel - it should not be activated.

Find the water supply valve to the dishwasher under the sink (or in the basement for those who have one). Close the valve to shut off the water supply to the dishwasher.

Remove the lower front access panel and impact plate.

Using a wrench, remove the screws holding the front access panel. Pull the access panel and impact plate forward and then remove and set aside.

Pull out the dishwasher

The electrical box is in front of the dishwasher just behind the lower front access panel. Remove the junction box cover and disconnect the wires.

Remove the 2 fixing screws from the brackets that secure the dishwasher to the hole in the niche.

Remove the dishwasher from under the rack. You must have enough slack in the drain hose and water supply line to pull the dishwasher out of the niche it is in.

Remove the springs. Check the door spring located on the side of the dishwasher. If the spring is intact, note the position of the spring on the front and rear mounting brackets. The new spring should normally be in the same position to maintain proper tension when opening and closing the door.

Using pliers, remove the spring from the rear bracket. Then remove the spring from the door hinge located at the front of the dishwasher.

Repeat with the spring on the other side of the dishwasher.

The tension spring is attached to the door. Remove the spring from the rear bracket.

Remove the spring from the door hinge. Install new springs. Attach the new springs to the front door hinges in the same way as the original springs were installed.

Using pliers, carefully secure the springs to the brackets at the back of the dishwasher. Reinstall the dishwasher.

Carefully place the dishwasher back into the niche. Connect the wires in the junction box and replace the cover of the junction box itself.

Insert the screws into the mounting brackets that secure the dishwasher in the niche and tighten them.

Replace the impact plate and then install the panel over it access. Insert the fixing screws and tighten them firmly. If you need help with affordable dishwasher repair, call us right now!
